PRESBYTERIAN
CHURCH (U.S.A.)

Each Sunday Reverend Johnson sits down front with the children and gives all of us a condensed bible lesson. The children begin with a moment of silence and finish with a prayer led by Reverend Liz. They love it! We all love it! She knows how to communicate with them and helps us appreciate the child in us grownups.
Sometimes when we can’t get to church we still want to experience the word. Here is an opportunity to read the messages delivered by Reverend Johnson. Just click on the link below.

“My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me.” John10.27
Dear Saints,
Scientific research, etiquette, mathematical equations, and even baking a cake all have a proper order in which things are done. Begin with a hypothesis then try to disprove it. Multiplication then division. RSVP then attend the event. Cream the butter then add the sugar. They seem mundane examples, but much of what we undertake in life has a specific order in which things are to be done.
So, it’s no wonder that we apply the same parameters to our faith. We think we have to believe before we can follow. Unfortunately faith and the Holy Spirit just don’t work that way.
Jesus explained to the learned people in the temple that the people who followed him first heard his voice. Perhaps before they had all of the details, perhaps before all of their questions were answered Jesus’ disciples followed him. They did not have to believe first. First they heard, then they followed, and then they came to believe.
Faith means following Jesus before you have all of the answers. You don’t have to have all of the answers in order to attend the Living Prayer class on Sundays or the New Members class on Thursdays in May. You don’t even have to have all of the answers to teach a children’s Sunday school class. You just have to follow the voice of the One calling you.
None of us has all of the answers, but we continue to follow, and through our following we come more and more to believe. Who knows, you may find that through following you gain understanding.
Peace,
M. Elizabeth Johnson
